Machine Operator 

Machine Operator required for a position with a steel processing stockholder based in the Aston, Birmingham area.

This particular company are well known locally and have operated in the area for over 10 years. The Machine Operator will be available to start immediately. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established company during a period of sustained growth.

Your main duties will involve the setting and operating of a wide coil slitting line. Working with mild steel, stainless steel and more. This is a temporary to permanent role with long term opportunities available for successful candidates.

The Role:

The Machine Operator will be required to work Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday. A long term on-going position will be provided for the correct candidate and training will be provided on the job.

Duties include:

Setting and running wide slitting lines processing steel coils to specification
Setting of tools on the line, separators, overarms etc. working with shimmed and shimless tooling
Loading/ unloading the line using a pendant overhead crane (If you hold a licence)
Operating a counterbalance forklift truck to move palletised steel stock (If you hold a licence)
Checking quality and tolerances of slit coils using precision measuring equipment
Banding, packing and palletising stock ready for dispatch
Any other duties as required

 

 Requirements for this role:

 

 The Machine Operator will require:

•              At least 1 year experience operating a Slitting Machine  

 

 Hours & Pay:

The start time will be between  7am/8am to 4pm/5pm will work between 40/50 hours over a 5 day period.

 The hourly rate for this role is 

•         £8- £10 per hour Monday to Friday (PAYE) (dependant on experience)
