HGV Class 1 Night Driver

Workchain, a leading UK-based recruitment agency, is currently seeking a skilled HGV Class 1 Night Driver on an ongoing contract for a well-established transport operation based in Foston. This long-standing business has successfully operated within the region for many years and offers consistent, reliable work. The role involves night trunking and general haulage, with minimal handball. This position may lead to a permanent contract for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate an HGV Class 1 vehicle during night shifts, in full compliance with all relevant regulations

• Deliver and collect goods with minimal handball

• Carry out daily vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and report defects promptly

• Follow planned routes and delivery schedules responsibly and efficiently

• Ensure loads are secure and transported safely

• Complete all required paperwork accurately and maintain delivery records

• Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when dealing with depots and customers

• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and health & safety requirements

• Work closely with the transport team to ensure smooth night operations

• Undertake any other duties reasonably requested

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence

• Up-to-date CPC and Digi Card

• Minimum 2 years’ Class 1 driving experience

• No more than 6 points on licence

• Good knowledge of drivers’ hours and transport legislation

• Strong commitment to road safety and professional driving standards

• Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently during night shifts

Hours of Work

• Monday to Friday

• Night shifts

• Start times typically between 18:00 – 22:00

• Shifts averaging 8–10 hours
