Join a Growing Logistics Team as an Export Compliance Expert

I’m working with a major European manufacturer and distributor and trusted leader in their industry, who are looking for a highly skilled Compliance Manager to become the organisation’s subject matter expert for export compliance and international trade operations. Reporting to the Head of Logistics, you’ll take ownership of all UK and EU export activity, ensuring every movement is legally compliant, efficient, and commercially optimised.

If you’re passionate about trade regulations, international logistics, and delivering high-quality compliance standards, this is an exceptional opportunity to shape and strengthen their global export function.

Role Purpose

As the Compliance Manager, you will act as the single point of contact for all export-related compliance matters across the business. You will manage regulatory adherence, documentation, tariff and origin classification, and export strategy across multiple markets. This role is central to ensuring seamless, compliant, and cost-effective export operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Export Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Serve as the primary contact for all export compliance issues.

  • Ensure full compliance with UK, EU, and destination-country export regulations.

  • Monitor regulatory changes impacting exports, including:

    • Products of Animal Origin (POAO)

    • High-Risk Food of Non-Animal Origin (HRFNAO)

    • Sampling and inspection requirements

    • Border control and SPS regulations

  • Identify opportunities arising from new UK/EU trade agreements.

2. Export Operations & Logistics Coordination

  • Manage export movements to key markets including Ireland, Northern Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.

  • Oversee all shipments into the European Distribution Centre (Netherlands).

  • Liaise with hauliers (company-appointed or customer-nominated) to organise collections.

  • Coordinate veterinary inspections where required.

  • Apply for and manage:

    • Export Health Certificates (EHC)

    • Certificates of Origin (COO)

    • Certificates of Free Sale (CFS)

    • Any other required export documentation

3. Documentation, Invoicing & Trade Compliance

  • Validate commercial invoices to ensure correct:

    • Incoterms

    • HS tariff classifications

    • Origin declarations

    • Supporting documentation

  • Prepare and validate commercial invoices for orders fulfilled from the European Distribution Centre.

  • Maintain accurate, compliant documentation processes across all export flows.

4. Tariff Classification & Origin Determination

  • Conduct regular tariff classification reviews for raw materials and finished goods.

  • Perform origin assessments and determine preferential origin eligibility.

  • Ensure correct application of preferential duty treatment (including under the UK–EU TCA).

  • Keep product classifications and origin data fully up to date.

5. Stakeholder Support & Advisory

  • Act as the first point of contact for:

    • Hauliers

    • Customers

    • Border agents

    • Internal teams requiring classification/origin guidance

  • Support the wider business with:

    • Duty impact and regulatory analysis

    • Trade route and logistics optimisation

    • Customs planning and risk mitigation

    • Scenario analysis (e.g., EU direct import vs UK manufacture and re-export)
